Keeper of the Night
When all is still and quiet,
When there’s hardly any light,
I lay with the comfort of my friend, the keeper of the night.
We’ve been pals since the good old days,
To a lot of places we’ve come and gone.
Always a comfort, there like a childhood friend.
The keeper of the night is a saint I say,
A friend every child should have.
He’s reliable and constant,
A silent hug at the end of the day.
He’s a keeper of fears, whispered under the covers, secrets from the world.
He’s a catcher of tears, free falling after too many days of being strong.
He’s a familiar touch and symbol of home, a place I will always belong.
